Catherine Zuber, the designer behind the revival’s costumes, is one of the most respected names in the Broadway world. She has received five Tony nominations and an exceptional seven wins, including four consecutive awards for Best Costume Design in a Musical.Her approach goes far beyond simply dressing the cast. Zuber conducts extensive research into the historical and cultural context of each production, blending period accuracy with modern theatrical aesthetics. For this revival of “My Fair Lady,” she chose to avoid dividing men and women by contrasting colors, instead unifying the cast through a shared palette to express a refreshed vision of the story that moves beyond rigid class divisions.
About Catherine Zuber
Zuber made her Broadway debut with the 1993 musical “The Red Shoes.” Since then, she has designed costumes for approximately fifty Broadway productions and more than fifty off Broadway works. Her remarkable career includes fourteen Tony nominations and seven wins.
She is also active in opera, designing costumes for major productions including “Carmen” and “Romeo et Juliette.” In addition, she created the costumes for the new musical “Moulin Rouge! The Musical,” which premiered in Boston and later transferred to Broadway.
