Since its Broadway debut on February 22 2018, the hit musical Frozen has played to sold out crowds. The original Broadway cast album has now been announced, with digital release starting on May 11 and CD sales beginning on June 8.

An expanded orchestra with a powerful string section
The stage production features a twenty one piece orchestra, but for the album recording the ensemble was expanded to forty four musicians. Remarkably, twenty two of them were string players, giving the score even greater depth and richness that closely follows the melodic lines.The project brought together major talents including Tony nominated composer Dave Metzger, known for his work on The Lion King, and Grammy winning film producer Chris Montan, creating a large scale Disney style recording session.

In the original musical number Monster, Elsa loses control of her powers as panic builds, and the music mirrors her racing heartbeat with an urgent orchestral drive. Casey Levy, who originated the role of Elsa on Broadway, describes singing the piece in full sync with that intensity.For this track the arrangement features electric guitar distortion layered at a volume equal to or even greater than the orchestra to capture the raw force of the characters emotional struggle.
