New Report: Broadway Musical “Frozen”

Frozen the Broadway musical

Frozen, the global sensation released in theaters in 2013, is now being developed into a brand new Disney musical. The show is currently in its tryout run at the Buell Theatre in Denver, Texas, and the official Broadway cast has just been announced.

Bringing Frozen to the stage

With its massive box office success throughout the United States, expectations were high as Frozen prepared for its stage adaptation. The Denver tryout, running from August 17 to October 1, 2017, offered the first glimpse of the new Broadway version. To see how the musical was developed, start with this behind the scenes video.

This video features insights from the writers, producers, and creative staff behind the musical adaptation of Frozen, sharing their passion and artistic vision.

Jennifer Lee, who wrote the book for the musical, describes Frozen as a story that “was made to become a stage musical.”

And of course, a musical must deliver strong songs and choreography. In addition to the iconic Let It Go from the film, the Broadway version includes about fourteen new songs designed to expand the story and deepen the characters. Disney Theatrical Productions president Thomas Schumacher has described it as “the perfect Broadway musical.”
