One summer, Alex, his wife, their young daughter, and his father-in-law take a vacation to an island in the south of France. One morning, Alex and his father-in-law take the little girl to the beach. After the father-in-law finishes a swim, Alex follows his suggestion and heads into the water as well.

But in the few seconds he looks away, Alex’s young daughter wanders up a cliff and falls. The unimaginable tragedy, set against the backdrop of a beautiful sunny coastline, fills Alex with grief, guilt, anger, and despair…

A Life – Synopsis

Abe, a music producer, is preparing for the birth of his first child with his wife. At the same time, his once strong and vibrant father has fallen ill and is rapidly deteriorating. Abe cares for him daily but struggles to accept the reality of his father’s decline. When the doctor finally tells him that the end is near, Abe is forced to confront the loss head-on.
