The hit musical “Wicked,” celebrating its fifteenth anniversary on Broadway in October 2018, has announced a major cast change. Jessica Vosk, who played Elphaba on the national tour, will step into the lead role on Broadway beginning July 16, taking over from Jackie Burns. Former Glinda actress Amanda Jane Cooper will also return to the production.

Born September 30 1983 in New Jersey, Jessica Vosk grew up learning music from her father, who was a band musician, and dreamed of performing on Broadway. After graduating from college she worked in finance on Wall Street, but unable to give up her childhood dream, she began seriously pursuing a career in musical theater.She made her Broadway debut in 2014 in “The Bridges of Madison County,” then continued building her stage credits in “Finding Neverland” and “Fiddler on the Roof.” She went on to play Elphaba in the second national tour of “Wicked,” which concluded on September 24 2017.
Returning to the Broadway production, she commented, “Joining Wicked on Broadway is a tremendous honor. I am grateful to share the stage with this incredible cast. I am beyond excited.”

It recently became the seventh longest running musical in Broadway history. More than 55 million people have seen the show across the globe, and its international box office revenue exceeds 4.5 billion dollars. On Broadway it ranks as the second highest grossing show of all time, just behind “The Lion King.”
