On June 10 2018, the 72nd Annual Tony Awards ceremony was held at Radio City Music Hall. Josh Groban
Born February 27 1981, American singerJosh Groban made his debut with the 2001 album “Josh Groban,” which quickly sold more than five million copies in the United States and launched him to national stardom. As both a vocalist and producer, he has demonstrated remarkable skill, performing the national anthem at events such as the Salt Lake City Olympics closing ceremony and the 2005 World Series opening game.
As a stage actor, he starred in the 2016 musical “The Great Comet,” earning a Tony nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical.
Sara Bareilles
Born December 7 1979, American singerSara Bareilles began her career in 2003 as a singer songwriter and pianist. Her 2007 hit single “Love Song” topped the Billboard Pop 100 chart and brought her international acclaim.
She continued to release successful songs such as “Brave,” and has been nominated for the Grammy Awards five times. Since 2016 she has also written music for the stage, including the Broadway musical “Waitress,” for which she earned a nomination for Best Original Score.
Highlights from the 72nd Annual Tony Awards Opening Ceremony
The annual opening number, traditionally led by the hosts, drew attention once again. This year the powerful voices of two professional singers filled Radio City Music Hall. Later in the number, twenty-one cast members from nominated productions appeared onstage for a large ensemble performance, creating a spectacular opening.
