Tony Award winner Gavin Creel returns to the Broadway musical Hello, Dolly! after recovering from back surgery. This is a rare chance to see his acclaimed performance once again, making it a must-see for Broadway fans.

The hit revival of Hello, Dolly! began in March 2017 and went on to win the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical. Gavin Creel, who won the 2017 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his performance as Cornelius Hackl, stepped away temporarily due to back surgery but officially returned to the show on May 8. During his absence, Santino Fontana – a Tony nominee for his leading role in Cinderella – served as Cornelius Hackl until his final performance on May 6.

Gavin shared, “I’m thrilled to be back onstage at the Shubert Theatre and grateful to Santino for stepping in during my recovery.”

Gavin Creel Born on April 18, 1976 in Ohio, Gavin Creel earned his degree from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance before making his Broadway debut in 2002 with Thoroughly Modern Millie. In addition to his Tony win for Hello, Dolly!, he has been nominated twice for The Book of Mormon and She Loves Me, solidifying his reputation as one of Broadway’s most accomplished performers.

Legendary star Bette Midler also returns to the production

Hello, Dolly! Broadway production Bernadette Peters, who currently stars as Dolly, will step down after her July 15 performance. Taking over the role is Bette Midler, the iconic performer whose accolades include Emmy, Golden Globe, Grammy and Tony Awards. Victor Garber, who plays Horace, will be succeeded by David Hyde Pierce – a two-time Tony Award winner and a 2017 nominee for his performance in this production – beginning July 17 through the final performance on August 25.
