This production features a massive puppet “six meters tall and weighing 1.1 tons,” operated through advanced puppetry that allows for lifelike movement and expressive detail. The heart of the story has always centered on the young actress Ann Darrow, the first human Kong falls in love with, and Jack Driscoll, her brave companion. While Ann Darrow is often remembered from the film as a blonde heroine, the Broadway musical reimagines the role with a powerful performance by a Black actress.
Ann Darrow: Christiani Pitts
Christiani Pitts began acting at the age of eight in New Jersey and later performed in Atlanta and Florida. She made her Broadway debut in the 2016 musical “A Bronx Tale.” Although still early in her Broadway career, her years of stage experience have led her to this milestone: her first major starring role as Ann Darrow.
Jack Driscoll: Eric William Morris
Eric William Morris is not only a stage actor but also an accomplished vocalist. He previously appeared on Broadway in “Mamma Mia!” (2001) and “Coram Boy” (2007), along with several film roles. After nearly eight years away from Broadway, he returns to the stage with a compelling performance as Jack Driscoll.
