About Sardi’s Restaurant
Opened on March 5, 1927, Sardi’s has long been a cornerstone of Broadway history and was the site of the very first Tony Awards. Its famous caricature tradition began as a creative idea to draw customers during hard times and has since grown into a cherished cultural hallmark, with more than a thousand portraits adorning its walls.
