Inspired by the real-life revival of the historic W J Brooks shoe factory, “Kinky Boots” has been playing at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre since March 3, 2013.The musical follows an unexpected partnership with a drag performer that transforms the struggling business and challenges prejudice along the way. After becoming a smash hit, the show generated more than $297 million in its early years and became a Broadway favorite. According to current projections, the production will surpass 2,507 performances by its final show, far exceeding popular titles like “Aladdin,” which had around 1,892 performances as of September 23.
