The Plot / Summary of Breakfast at Tiffany’s

The story takes place in New York. Paul, a young aspiring writer, notices a woman in his apartment building who has a peculiar calling card on her mailbox that reads “Miss Holiday Golightly Traveling.” Her name is Holly.

Holly works as a call girl and lives freely with her unnamed cat. Whenever she feels down, she refreshes herself by eating a roll outside Tiffany’s on Fifth Avenue. Although she can be moody and emotionally fragile, she remains pure at heart like a young girl. Paul is drawn to Holly, and she, in turn, begins to trust his kindness, deepening their friendship.

Around them swirl a cast of colorful characters: Holly’s wealthy boyfriend Rusty, her upstairs neighbor Yunioshi the photographer, and mobster Sally Tomato who pays her handsomely each time she visits him in prison. With endless parties and dinners filling their days, Paul and Holly are constantly swept up in her chaotic world. But will their bond eventually turn into something more?
