A high school student named Frank, living in New York, is devastated by his beloved parents’ divorce and decides to leave home.

In desperate need of money, he turns to forging checks. As an amateur, he struggles at first and racks his brain for a better idea.

That’s when Frank comes up with a plan – to pose as an airline pilot. Traveling around the world in uniform, he successfully cashes his fake checks and quickly becomes addicted to the thrill of easy money.

Meanwhile, FBI agent Carl Hanratty, who is investigating the massive check fraud case, begins to close in on the mysterious culprit, though Frank always manages to stay one step ahead.

Not only does Frank impersonate a pilot, he also falls for a young nurse named Brenda and reinvents himself as a doctor. Later, he even pretends to be a lawyer. But at his own engagement party, his double life finally unravels, and he is betrayed and arrested.

However, the FBI soon recognizes a talent in Frank that only he possesses. Instead of a life behind bars, this marks the beginning of an entirely new chapter in his story.
