Head Over Heels – Story

The Plot / Summary of Head Over Heels

The Plot / Summary of Head Over Heels
Set during England’s Elizabethan era, often described as a golden age, the kingdom of Arcadia, descendants of ancient Greek royalty, sets out on a journey to try and avoid the fate foretold by an oracle.

The royal family embarks on this quest to protect their beloved land, but along the way they encounter romance, scandal, and some very unexpected self-discoveries.

Pamela, the king’s older daughter, begins to realize her love for Mopsa, the daughter of long-time courtier Dametas. Meanwhile, the younger princess Philoclea falls in love with the shepherd Musidorus. To hide their relationship, Musidorus disguises himself as a woman and joins the royal family on their travels, only for the king, unaware of the truth, to fall in love with Musidorus in disguise. The result is a whirlwind of outrageous comedy and tangled romance.

Each character struggles with personal challenges, discovering new sides of themselves during the journey. All of this unfolds as the story is brought to life with the infectious rock anthems of the Go-Go’s, making Head Over Heels a bold, laugh out loud romantic comedy musical unlike anything else on Broadway.

Head Over Heels – Audience Reviews

Review from Minnie:

So Many Great Songs

The Go-Go’s! It felt nostalgic and exciting at the same time. For someone from my generation, it was unforgettable. Hearing hit songs like “We Got The Beat” and “Our Lips Are Sealed” live was such a thrill.

Review from Rak-kyo:

A Strange but Fun Musical

It was a very quirky and unusual musical. If you’re looking for something different from the typical Broadway shows, this one is a good choice.

Review from Toshiko:

Couldn’t Stop Laughing

The English was a little challenging for me, but the show was filled with silly moments that kept me laughing throughout. My favorite character was the shepherd who falls in love with the princess. It’s a hilarious role since he spends the entire show in disguise, but I won’t spoil the reason why. The costumes and sets were so charming, and I even bought a souvenir cup that came with beer. Thank you for arranging the tickets!
