At home, she lives with her alcoholic father, a mother consumed with worry and focused on her unborn child, and a troublesome aunt on parole who constantly stirs up trouble. With little love or stability from her family, Kimberly feels isolated until she befriends a boy at school named Seth. Curious and kind, Seth researches her condition and spends time by her side.
Unsure if she will even reach her next birthday, Kimberly decides to make the most of the time she has left, choosing to seek out joy, love, and moments of happiness wherever she can.

I had been wanting to see this show for a while, and when I heard it won a Tony Award, I immediately booked tickets from At Broadway. The songs were amazing! I was mesmerized by the singing voice of Victoria Clark, who played Kim. The story was also thought-provoking, so I was very satisfied with the show.

Kimberly Akimbo first premiered Off-Broadway in December 2021 at the Atlantic Theater Company, a small venue in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood. Leading Actress Victoria Clark, a Tony Award Winner
Playing the challenging role of Kimberly, a teenager who looks decades older than her age, is veteran Broadway star Victoria Clark. Known for her radiant soprano voice, she won the Tony Award for Best Actress in 2005 for The Light in the Piazza. When Kimberly Akimbo won the Tony Award for Best musical in 2023, Clark was 63, and her moving performance as Kimberly became one of the highlights of the Broadway season.
