MEMPHIS – Story
The Plot / Summary of MEMPHIS
Huey, a young white man, stumbles into a Black club in Memphis and is immediately confronted by the owner, Delray, who demands to know what he’s doing there. Huey passionately explains his love for Black music, and from that day on, he can think of little else.
One day, Huey sneaks into a radio booth and boldly plays a Black record on air. Since the station usually caters to white audiences, the staff fear backlash – but instead, requests for more Black music pour in from white teenagers across the city. The energy of this music captures their hearts, and times begin to change.
Determined to spread the power of the music he loves, Huey sets out on a mission. But the walls of racial prejudice are high, and he soon faces challenges from every direction. Can he stay true to his passion and share the music that means everything to him…?
