Originally adapted into a Hollywood film by Howard Hawks in 1934, the stage version premiered on Broadway in 1978. The Plot / Summary of On Twentieth Century
But Lily grew tired of Oscar’s overwhelming arrogance and left for Hollywood. Now bankrupt and desperate after a string of failures, Oscar finds himself on the same train as Lily, who has since become a glamorous movie star adored nationwide.
Determined to revive his career, Oscar hatches a daring plan: convince Lily to star in his new show before the train reaches New York. The question is, can the two reconcile long enough to create a hit and reclaim Broadway glory?
