Highlights of Rock of Ages – Must-See Moments
Celebrating its 10th Anniversary with a Limited Off-Broadway Return!
Rock of Ages first premiered at the Hayes Theater in 2009 and was nominated for the Tony Award for Best musical that same year. In 2011, a Japanese-language production featuring Takanori Nishikawa and Hitomi Shimatani brought the show international attention. In summer 2012, the film adaptation starring Tom Cruise was released in the US, achieving box office success and gaining a worldwide following. To celebrate its 10th Anniversary, Rock of Ages returned Off-Broadway as a limited engagement, running through September 13, 2020. Even a decade after its debut, this electrifying musical continues to attract devoted fans and remains a must-see experience for theatergoers.
Experience the Live Energy of 80s and 90s Rock
Unlike traditional musicals, Rock of Ages focuses heavily on music, delivering a high-energy lineup of iconic 80s rock anthems by Journey, Bon Jovi, Styx, Pat Benatar, Asia, REO Speedwagon, Whitesnake, Steve Perry, and more. With its powerful arrangements, playful humor, and easy-to-follow storyline, the show feels more like a rock concert than a musical. Guests can enjoy drinks inside the theater, and by the finale, the entire audience joins in singing together. Whether you’re a lifelong rock fan or just looking for an unforgettable night out, Rock of Ages guarantees a thrilling, crowd-pleasing experience for everyone.

Rock of Ages – Story
The Plot / Summary of Rock of Ages
Persuaded by German developers, the city’s mayor launches a campaign to “clean up” Los Angeles by eliminating sex, drugs, and rock ’n’ roll. As part of the plan, the Bourbon Room is marked for destruction. To fight back, club owner Dennis organizes a final concert featuring the hit band Arsenal to raise money. However, internal conflicts among the band threaten to derail the event.
When lead singer Stacee Jaxx is knocked out during a fight with a bandmate, Drew takes the stage in his place. This pivotal moment finally earns him recognition for his musical talent, but Sherrie’s own path takes an unexpected turn…

Rock of Ages – Review
Review from Nakai:
The Guitar Solo Gave Me Chills
This was my second time seeing the show and I was thrilled to hear it got extended again. In my opinion, it’s a bit of a hidden gem. Tickets are usually under $100 and since the theater is small, you can enjoy it from almost any seat. The story is easy to follow, filled with humor, and packed with energy. And nothing beats singing “Don’t Stop Believin’” together with the whole audience at the end – it’s an experience you won’t often get elsewhere.

Review from Gogo!:
A Must for Anyone Who Loves Powerful Shows
If you’re looking for a high-energy performance, this is the one. Unlike a typical Broadway musical, it feels more like a live rock concert, which makes it a very relaxed experience. Tickets are reasonably priced, so I’d definitely recommend it for students too.

Review from Rock ’n’ Roll Never Stops:
I Laughed So Much
It was hilarious, almost like a full-on comedy. The older guys in the show were ridiculously funny and had the audience in stitches.

Review from “Fun and Powerful Show!!!”:
It felt like the Tom Cruise movie had come to life on stage. There were plenty of cheeky jokes, but honestly, that’s part of what makes this show so entertaining.
