Everyday household items are transformed into instruments, paired with powerful dance and performance that electrify the theater.
Even The New York Times praised it as “a sure-fire crowd-pleaser”, cementing its place as one of the most talked-about Off-Broadway productions. If you’re looking for an entertainment experience unlike anything you’ve seen before, STOMP is a must-see!

Behind the Scenes of Stomp
How STOMP was created by two percussionists
STOMP may be famous as a long-running Off-Broadway hit in New York, but the show actually began in the UK. In 1981, two percussionists, Steve McNicholas and Luke Cresswell, started performing on the streets of Brighton, England. Their style of making rhythm from everyday objects caught attention through TV and commercials. In the summer of 1991, they presented STOMP for the first time with a cast of seven at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London and the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh. The show turned pots, brooms, and other objects into powerful rhythm, creating a new type of entertainment that went far beyond street performance. Soon after, the cast grew to eight members, the same number performing today.
From UK success to New York Off-Broadway
Between 1991 and 1994, the original cast toured widely. During a special season at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London in 1994, STOMP was nominated for Best Entertainment and won Best Choreography at the Laurence Olivier Awards. That same year, on February 27, 1994, STOMP opened at the Orpheum Theatre in New York’s East Village. The show was an instant success, winning both the Obie Award and the Drama Desk Award, and became one of the most original and exciting productions in Off-Broadway history.

First, he appeared as a deck brush, then as a bag, bucket, tire, and other things, and they all made these sounds! My kids were amazed from start to finish. Even small children will enjoy it.
The price was reasonable and the performance was great! It's totally fine even if you have small children.
I wasn't in the mood to see a musical, but since I was in New York, I thought I'd see something interesting, so I decided to go. It was a lot more interesting than I expected. It was a performance I'd seen on TV, but seeing it live was a whole different experience. I was lucky to get good seats. Thank you very much.
I was amazed to see everyday objects transformed into musical instruments. What's more, even though they were using the same instruments, the sounds were different. Maybe it's because the sound changes depending on where you hit it. It was just amazing... And I got a great seat, right at the front, so it was very exciting! Thank you very much.
We were given front-row seats, and the sense of presence was overwhelming. My son, an elementary school student, was fascinated by the sounds that everyday objects could make, and even after we got back to the hotel, he tried to imitate them by hitting various objects (such as a suitcase). It was a great experience for him. Thank you for arranging such good seats for us.
I was amazed to see how such sounds could be made from everyday items like tires, deck brushes, and bags. The seats were all full, so it must be a really popular show. The location is a little hard to find, but there was a Japanese restaurant and an izakaya nearby, so it felt somehow familiar. I recommend it for families too!
I was a bit worried about my English, so I chose to enjoy the music rather than the musical. It was a spectacular performance! It may sound cliché to say this was the real thing, but... (hahaha) The performers' encouragement was powerful, and it felt like the whole venue was united. I was able to get excited together from start to finish without getting bored at all, and it was fantastic★
The sight of the black man dancing with such a beautiful, muscular body was burned into my memory. He was so cool. I thought Broadway was a dream come true, that you could make a living doing that. I also loved the atmosphere of the town around the theater!
I went to see this on the recommendation of a friend who had been to New York! I usually don't like musicals because they're too long and it's hard to sit through them, but this one is short, so I recommend it. I think it's about an hour and a half. Everyone can enjoy it, even if they don't understand English!!!
The location of the theater was quite difficult to find (my cell phone died halfway through, so it was difficult to find it on a paper map). The content was quite fascinating, but I wonder if it's really worth paying this much in New York, where street performances are so popular.
