ROCKY – About the Show
Highlights of ROCKY – Must-See Moments
The legendary film “Rocky,” which won three Academy Awards in 1976 and was later preserved in the United States National Film Registry in 2006, makes its triumphant return as a Broadway musical. The story that captured audiences worldwide, including in Japan, now comes alive on stage.Sylvester Stallone, the original Rocky himself, serves as writer and producer, joined by an award winning Broadway team: Stephen Flaherty (composer of “Ragtime”), Lynn Ahrens (lyricist of “Ragtime”), Alex Timbers (director of “Peter and the Starcatcher”), and Kelly Devine (choreographer of “Rock of Ages”).
Choreography by Steven Hoggett, known for “Once,” brings a thrilling realism to the boxing sequences, which are among the highlights of the show. And yes, fans will get to hear the iconic cry of “Adrian!” live on stage, adding an unforgettable punch of nostalgia.
Just like the beloved film, this Broadway musical delivers courage, inspiration, and the message of never giving up. A must see production that promises to move and energize audiences in New York.

ROCKY – Story
The Plot / Summary of ROCKY
The one bright spot in Rocky’s rough life is Adrian, a shy young woman who works at the neighborhood pet shop. Adrian is the sister of Rocky’s best friend Paulie, who works at a meat packing plant. Rocky visits her every day, slowly breaking through her reserved nature. Awkward at first, their tender romance grows into a deep bond that changes them both.
Meanwhile, as part of America’s Bicentennial celebrations, world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed finds himself without an opponent after his scheduled challenger is injured. Seeking to create publicity, Apollo suggests fighting an unknown, turning the bout into a symbol of the American Dream. On little more than a nickname, “The Italian Stallion,” Apollo chooses Rocky as his challenger.
What follows is the story of an underdog given one chance at greatness, a fight that will test Rocky’s determination, heart, and belief in himself.
