The Plot / Summary of School of Rock
He shares an apartment with his best friend Ned, but Ned’s girlfriend Patty has had enough and demands Dewey pay the overdue rent or get out. Just then, a phone call comes in offering Ned a job as a substitute teacher. Hearing the high salary, Dewey pretends to be Ned and takes the position at the prestigious Horace Green Academy!
The elite prep school is filled with straight-A students who live completely different lives from Dewey. At first, he takes the job just for the paycheck, but soon he discovers the kids’ hidden musical talents. In turn, the children start to realize there is more to life than homework and grades, as Dewey inspires them to unleash their inner rock stars.

Broadway Impressions
Since I’m used to theaters back home, this one felt smaller. But that made the stage feel incredibly close and powerful. If you sit too close to the front, though, you’ll end up looking up the whole time, so I don’t recommend it.

At times it felt less like a musical and more like a full-on rock concert. The volume was overwhelming, just like being in a live house. The kids felt like professional musicians, but as Broadway actors, it wasn’t quite what I expected.
