Tarzan – About the Show
Highlights of Tarzan – Must-See Moments
The Broadway musical Tarzan delivers a thrilling blend of suspense, spectacle, love, and courage – a true top-class production in every way. The music is composed by Phil Collins, the seven-time Grammy Award-winning artist who also created the soundtrack for Disney’s animated film. The show is directed by Bob Crowley, a two-time Tony Award winner.
What makes Disney’s Tarzan on Broadway truly unique is its aerial design. The show features breathtaking flying sequences: gorillas bungee-jump over the orchestra pit, actresses in butterfly costumes glide above the audience, and Tarzan himself swings dramatically on jungle vines from the mezzanine to the main stage.
Following the huge success of Disney musicals like Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King, Tarzan became the next big Disney Broadway production. With multiple Disney musicals now running in Broadway theaters, Disney has become a central force in the world of Broadway. The new musical Tarzan premiered in May 2006, and ticket sales have been strong ever since.

Tarzan – Story
The Plot / Summary of Tarzan
Over time, Tarzan befriends Terk, a playful young gorilla, and Tantor, a cautious elephant. He grows stronger, eventually defeating the leopard and earning the respect of his jungle family.
One day, gunshots echo through the forest. Rushing to investigate, Tarzan meets Jane, a human explorer who looks just like him. But danger follows: the villain Clayton and his men arrive to capture the gorillas. Tarzan defeats them, protecting his family.
Though Jane came to the jungle under Clayton’s deception, she and Tarzan share a deep bond. In the end, Tarzan chooses to remain in the jungle, even if it means saying goodbye to Jane.

Review from Ticket Sales Staff:
About the closing of Tarzan
Some of you may already know, but it has been announced that the Disney musical *Tarzan* closed on July 8, 2007.
The cancellation was due to circumstances on the organizer’s side (such as Disney). Customers who purchased tickets for dates after July 9 will receive a full refund, including our handling fees. Please contact us at the address below without worry.
If you would prefer to exchange your tickets for another show instead of a refund, we can arrange that and adjust the balance accordingly. At this time, aside from exceptions like *The Lion King*, most shows are still available.
Please note that *Beauty and the Beast* will also end in July, so many weekend and matinee performances are already sold out. Some dates for *Mary Poppins* are also difficult to book.
Popular shows currently unavailable for ticketing:
*Wicked*, *Jersey Boys*
In any case, once you have read this notice, we kindly ask you to contact us at the address below. When doing so, please include your full name, the performance date, and the email address used when purchasing tickets.

Review from IHO:
The closing is very disappointing
I had been planning to see *Tarzan* next year. Why? Why?? Why??? Why did it have to close? Since it was Disney, I assumed it would run for a long time…

Review from Oki Mama:
A show that kids can enjoy too
We went to see it on the night we arrived. The stage was so powerful it blew away our jetlag. Even my sons, who usually say “musicals aren’t for me,” enjoyed it. Although I heard mixed reviews locally, I think it’s definitely worth watching.

Review from Yoko:
I saw it last year and was truly impressed by the production of *Tarzan*. The music and vocals gave me goosebumps. It was a shame that the cast recording CD was not available yet.

Review from Tanpopo:
Moving and unforgettable. This is a musical you won’t regret seeing. Visually stunning, with a clear story that’s easy to follow. My child was wide-eyed throughout the show. The singing was outstanding, and we had a wonderful time. If you go to New York, you must see it!
