On Your Feet! brings the story of Gloria Estefan, the Cuban born singer who has won seven Grammy Awards, to life with the irresistible beats of Latin music. Whether you are already a fan of her music or hearing it for the first time, you will find it impossible to stay seated. The rhythms will have you clapping, moving, and eventually jumping up to dance, just as the title promises: On Your Feet!
The musical follows Gloria as the lead vocalist of the world famous Miami Sound Machine, the band that set off a Latin music fever across the globe in the late 1970s, and her partnership, both personal and professional, with her husband and producer Emilio Estefan.
Even more special, the music in the show is supervised by Gloria and Emilio themselves, capturing the authentic sound that made them legends. Through struggles, triumphs, and resilience, you will witness their journey as artists, producers, and as a couple. By the time the curtain falls, you will walk out energized and inspired by their story.

The Plot / Summary of On Your Feet!
One day, thanks to her grandmother’s encouragement, Gloria found herself singing in front of Emilio Estefan, the producer of the well-known local band “Miami Latin Boys,” the group that would later become Miami Sound Machine.
At first, Gloria was shy about performing for strangers, but with the support of her grandmother and sister, she gathered the courage to share her voice. Her talent impressed Emilio, and she soon became a member of the band.
As Gloria embraced the joy of performing music, she began to step out of her shell and grew closer to Emilio. But her mother, once a young woman with her own dreams of becoming a singer, worried about losing her daughter to Emilio and struggled with feelings of jealousy. Unable to fully support Gloria’s career, tensions rose until their relationship broke down and they stopped speaking.
After debuting as a solo artist from Miami Sound Machine, Gloria pioneered a new wave of Latin pop by singing in English over Latin rhythms. She achieved worldwide fame and built a beautiful family life with Emilio, yet deep inside she still felt an emptiness. That strain began to put pressure on her marriage and her career.
Tragedy struck when a tour bus she was traveling on was hit by a truck, leaving Gloria with a severe spinal injury. Physically and emotionally broken, she nearly gave up on performing altogether. But through reconciliation with her mother, the unwavering support of her family, and the love of her fans, Gloria slowly rediscovered her strength and returned to the stage with renewed determination.

I’ve always loved Gloria Estefan’s music, so seeing it on stage was amazing. It felt different from something like the Carole King musical, but equally powerful. Our seats were right in the center, and the whole audience was moving together with the Latin beats. Incredible energy!

Full of energy
I honestly did not know much about Gloria Estefan before going, so I quickly read her story beforehand. Since it is based on real events, knowing her background helped me follow the show. By the finale I was on my feet, even dancing with the woman sitting next to me. Such a fun and uplifting experience, and I think I am hooked on Latin music now!

Right before intermission, the whole theater sang and danced to “Conga,” and it felt like one big party. I had never experienced a Latin-inspired musical like this before, and it was so refreshing and exciting!
